We help leaders in small to medium size firms ($1M-$100M), especially family businesses, successfully navigate changes so that they can create transitions that lead to success. All businesses experience changes, e.g., market expansion or contraction, technology transformations, changes in the characteristics or needs of leadership (individuals, families, partnerships). How business leaders manage the transitions through change determines whether they and their companies will benefit or suffer from change. Examples of transitions include but are not limited to leadership succession, mergers and acquisitions, rapid organic growth or decline, partnership transitions, and major product or technology changes. Gary A. Giamartino, Ph.D., established Giamartino Consulting in December 2016 following a successful career in higher education as a professor, researcher, and dean of three leading US business schools. Leveraging his experience of growing up in family businesses and managing multi-million dollar business units, he specializes in firms that are going through transitions including but not limited to leadership successions, generational transfer of leadership in family firms, mergers and acquisitions, changes in strategic direction or product portfolio mixes. He has coached leaders to help enhance their skills and to diagnose and shape organizational culture. He also has extensive experience in coaching entrepreneurs in the start-up and growth stages of business. He has recently served as a volunteer mentor to start-up companies in the Student Innovation Incubator at the University of South Florida and is a frequent lecturer on exit strategies for family businesses. Dr. Giamartino has direct experience in the food, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail sectors, as well as in government and higher education organizations.
